Shopping The availability and variety of consumer goods in Russia have increased dramatically during the past several years. With a little research, visitors to Moscow can find stores that cater to both their most basic and extravagant needs. The thrifty shopper will weigh the comfort associated with buying familiar Western brands against the often substantial savings attained by buying Russian. Dining Out Restaurants representing cuisine from many ethnic nations are located throughout the city, although primarily clustered near the center. In Moscow you can find Russian, Georgian, Armenian, American, Chinese, Indian, Italian, German, French, Scandinavian, Spanish, Japanese, and Mexican restaurants. Styles range from fast food/take out (McDonald's, Taco Bell, KFC, Russky Bistro, Kombi's deli) to pizza (Pizza Hut, Jack's Pizza) to casual dining (Patio Pasta, 24-hour diner) to extremely elegant. For nicer restaurants, you should make reservations. No matter where you have your meal, be prepared to pay much more than in the US. In some restaurants, a 10-15% service charge will be added to the bill. If not, that amount should be left as a tip.
