The German system Education is free in state schools. Every region (Bundesland) has ist own schooling system or structure, defined by the Ministry of Culture. Classes in German public Education in general is: - Kindergarten (3-6 years old, not obligatory) - Grundschule or Gesamtschule (6-10 years old) - Hauptschule (10-15 years old) ; or Realschule (13- 16 years old) ; or Gymnasium (10-18 years old) International schools Most large cities have international schools, where English is the main language. In Munich there are two private English-speaking international schools, one French-speaking and one Japanese-speaking. We advise you to apply well in advance.
